As a filmmaker and content creator over the years, storytelling has always been fundamental in engaging digital audiences. Coming from a film and stills industry background, I have seen the shift of traditional production platforms begin to include social media content as part of the production schedule. Brands and agencies relying on content creators to produce their social media content. Producers are being asked for content creators to be on set as well, who can shoot content, photographs, cinemagraphs and gifs. After what feels like 15 years 7 months and 12 days, I’ve come to a point where shooting food, people and tinkering with moving visuals gets me out of bed in the morning and keeps me coming back for more. I make said bed in Cape Town, but I am a complete sucker for gigs that get me airborne and outbound, and from time-to-time you can find me dotting around the country or heading off to the Middle East.
